Spring Stampex 2010

Spring Stampex, organised by the Philatelic Traders' Society, will be held at the Business Design Centre, Islington, (close by Angel Tube Station) from 24th. to the 27th. February.
Opening times are from 11.30am to 7pm on the Wednesday, starting at 10am on the other days and closing at 6pm on the Thursday and Friday and 5pm on the Saturday.
Entry is free on all days.

Displays
The main display on the Village Green will celebrate the centenary of the Union of South Africa in 1910, and will be mounted by The South African Collectors Society. Whilst obviously there will be much material of interest to current and future collectors of the area, we are assured that there will be many displays not previously seen in Britain.

"Competition"
On the mezzanine will be the entries for the ABPS National "One Frame" competition. This was inaugurated last Spring and received an outstanding response which, hopefully, will be repeated for this show. There was much interest from general collectors in these exhibits.

Also at the rear of the mezzanine will be the Youth Competition entries.

Standholders
We already have a superlative list of dealers, with about one-fifth from overseas, to satisfy every requirement be it large or small. The Royal Mail stand will be there, just inside the entrance, with their usual offering of the best in Modern Great Britain including the first day of the "Royal Society" issue and the second Olympic & Paralympic Games Retail Stamp Book on the Thursday.

A special posting box is available at the exhibition for all days and a second box to obtain special Stampex FDI handstamps for the Royal Mail issue on the Thursday.

For the full continually updated list see the P.T.S. web site, www.philatelic-traders-society.co.uk. There will also be a joint stand for the A.B.P.S. and the National Philatelic Society. The Stampex Committee are grateful to the members of the latter who man the Information Stand just inside the main entrance for the duration of the show.

Get your "picture on a stamp"
Royal Mail will again have their "Smilers" operation in action at Stampex. This is your chance to have your photograph taken and printed 'there and then' on a special Smilers sheet to use on your personal mail and to send show-related items.

Society Meetings
Antarctic smiler A number of Societies including the Great Britain P.S., Egypt Study Circle, the Concorde Study Circle, the Ceylon Study Circle, the Aden, Yemen & Somaliland Study Circle, the Malta Study Circle and the British Postmark Society have already booked meetings at Stampex on the Saturday. They will welcome any new potential members who are interested.

'At the show'
There will again be a free postcard, number 18 in the series, issued to all visitors and only available at the show. Another Stampex Smiler, (although not free), will also be available.
Details of both these items will be confirmed in the near future.

Not forgetting the younger collector
The National Youth Stamp Group will as usual lay on a host of activities for young collectors including a chance to amass free points to spend in the FREE Auction which takes place on the Saturday. It's always a hive of activity, why not pop along and see the furture exhibitors enjoying the day.
